This is a set of 1.5 inch veterinary education eye-globes for teaching students how to perform a fundic exam using direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy. The iris has an opening through which the fundic examination can be accomplished; this iris opening’s shape represents a “fully dilated pupil.”
Each set includes one table top stand per model and contains 6 total models (one of each of the following) supplied in an attractive sturdy wooden display case:
- Canine: Brown iris with corresponding normal fundus image
Blue iris with corresponding normal fundus image
- Feline: Yellow-Amber iris with corresponding normal fundus image
Blue iris with corresponding normal fundus image
- Equine: Brown iris with corresponding normal fundus image
- Lagomorph: Albino with corresponding normal fundus image
The models are 3-dimensional and based on photographic images of actual animals so that students can learn how to handle and use ophthalmoscopes and lenses, how to use the ophthalmoscope diopter to focus on different planes, the cornea, iris, and optic disc and various portions of the fundus and the difference in image orientation and field of view between direct and indirect ophthalmoscopy.
In addition to the 1.5 inch training globes, we offer a smaller 0.75 inch version of all six animals listed above with an eyelet built into the back of them so that they can be attached to stuffed animals to create more realistic training anmals.
